Data Preparation for AI
Resolve the source, access, or quality problems blocking one useful AI workflow.
Get the right information into one useful workflow
A quote assistant needs current pricing. A document workflow needs readable files and a clear source of truth. An internal search tool needs to respect who can see each source.
When those foundations are missing, we focus the data work on the use case. A company-wide data rebuild is rarely a sensible prerequisite for a first pilot.
Supporting work, scoped when needed
Data preparation may be part of a Focused AI Workflow Pilot, typically around CAD $10,000, when the requirements are contained. More substantial source cleanup, migration, or multi-system integration is scoped separately. We explain that boundary before starting.
Depending on the problem, the work can include:
- Identifying authoritative sources, ownership, and access permissions
- Preparing records or documents for the agreed workflow
- Building an ingestion path with failure logging and source information
- Testing retrieval or extraction against representative questions and cases
- Documenting data flows, retention, and operating responsibilities
What counts as better
We choose a measure that reflects the use case: correct answers supported by a source, accurate extraction, fewer missing records, or less manual preparation. The test includes relevant access restrictions and failure cases.
We agree deliverables, acceptance tests, the review window, and correction terms in the proposal. The result is a documented basis for deciding whether the workflow is ready for its next stage.
Start with the business problem
Bring the workflow you want to improve and a description of where the information lives. We will help determine whether data preparation is needed, whether an existing tool is enough, and what belongs in the first scope.
