iPhone 6 Live Stream Announced: Apple Launches Countdown Page For Media Event

The countdown to the unveiling of Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) highly anticipated iPhone 6 and iWatch is officially on.

The Cupertino, California tech titan updated their website on Thursday, announcing its plans to stream its Sept. 9 media event. The live page added to their website features a countdown timer along with details for its special occasion.

Those looking to watch the event can visit the Apple website on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m PDT. Viewers will be required to stream the event from the Safari web browser on OS X 10.6.8 or later and iOS 6.0 or later. Owners of the second or third generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later will also be able to stream the event.

The media event, which will be held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California, is expected to be the launch platform for a number of new devices, including the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, 5.5-inch iPhone 6L and the rumored iWatch.

The devices are expected to contain a plethora of new features, including health apps, sensors and near-field communication or NFC, a wireless technology that will bring a new wireless payment system to the iOS ecosystem. While Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 6 and the iWatch side-by-side at the event, it’s currently unconfirmed when each device will be available in stores.

But rumors and research notes point to the release of the iPhone 6 ten days later on Sept. 19. The iPhone 6L is expected to be released sometime between October and November. While the iWatch’s launch has been highly anticipated, analysts believe that the wearable device may not see store shelves until 2015.
